During my time as Navy Federal Credit Union's social media intern, one of my responsiblities was creating monthly newsletters to showcase the work of the social media department,

 

Since Navy Federal's social presence was still growing, this was important in informing employees of the credibility and importance of having a social presence.

The Paladin Articles

 

As a writer for Furman's student run newspaper, I covered a variety of stories from an International Dance Festival to the addition of a new Humanities minor.

 

As the editor of the DIversions section, I managed a staff of writers and photographers while creating a two-page biweekly spread using InDesign and Photoshop. I continued to write articles for the Diversions section including Food Up, which was awarded First Place for Features Stories at the South Carolina Press Association's Collegiate Awards

In May of 2015, I studied abroad in Italy with a group from Furman University. We studied the art of travel writing and how to write for travel magazines, blogs and other sources. 

 

At the end of the study abroad, we turned in a portfolio of our essays written throughout the trip.

These words are my own.

 

I enjoy the challenges that words bring. Words are powerful tools that can be carefully crafted and placed to bring about optimal results in many different areas of the work place.

 

During my internships in Marketing, I have learned that words combined with visual aids can help engage a casual viewer in a brand whether it be through a media spotlight, email, or social channel. In my roles as a student writer and photographer for campus publications I adjusted my writing to meet the interests of the faculty, students, and alumni who engaged with the content. The way words attract viewers fascinates me and inspires me to learn about new ways in which copy can be used to attract viewers to brands.
